Dear Hunters, dear friends!

Around last year in July 08 we aired our discontentment with the leopardhunting practices in Namibia lately and that we are strongly against cathunting with dogs in general.
Yesterday there was a special meeting held by the NAPHA( Namibian Professional Hunter Association) to speak about this matter. It was observed that for the first time in recorded Namibian hunting history the quota for leopard and cheetah was depleted before the first half of the huntingseason was over. Furthermore the very unethical methods with and without dogs were discussed which leave your hair stand on end! So far for ethical hunting. A big huntingoutfitter put it very nicely saying that greed is the main motive of these guys mostly coming in from South Africa where they do not do business anymore as nobody likes their canned hunting style in general! Here it must be said too that to do their unethical hunting they have to find a nambian farmer who cooperates and they do….
It was decided to advise MET(Ministry of Enviroment and Tourism) to close the Leopardhunting with dogs totally for Namibia and to close the cathunting for this year also in total( cheetah is closed already) to first get very tight rules and laws into place.
Lets see the outcome. The MET was deadquiet and one wonders if the rumours are true that the upper leagues in these departments accept nice handouts to issue so much permits??? A chapter where the last words are not spoken as yet!

At Oryxhunt everything is just fine! The children are well. Lars(9) does wonderfully in school, enjoys his horseriding and plays the flute!
Jens is now in Grade 11 and is also still doing his many sports, Kickboxing, Volleuball, Handball etc. We did a few tests with him re. What to study the year after next and strong tendencies are Hotel Management, Tourism and Bcomm.

If you have any suggestions in that direction pls let us know. He also wants to study overseas rather than in South Africa.

Hans is as usual fully involved in his cattlebreeding programmes and looks forward to the national Sales soon and to our own auction in November. The Bonsmaracattle is just a very well adapted cattle for this country and South Africa and already the biggest cattle race in Southern Africa.

Politically we soon do have voting again(November) and one can just feel it. In the center of Windhoek there is a Bronze Statue of a rider on his horse reminding everybody of the german occupation in Namibia. It was well accepted by everybody but now it must move and on its place there is erected a 60Mill NS Museum built by Koreans! There is also not enough money to move the rider and his horse …thus the German Culture Club must see to it that it is done….
Germany is the biggest donator of foreign money to Namibia….(?)
We have a lot of people on the streets with no work who do know the building industry…why Koreans Is it the old friendship with Communism before Namibia became independent….favour for favour??

Soon we have the schoolbasaar for our school and mum and dad must do their duties. Dad will be at the Barstand 2 hrs and mum to sell some or other cake!
Plus donations etc etc….You see WE ARE NEVER BORED!
Furthermore we will be so lucky as to have 3 more groups of hunters coming till end of November and we so much look forward to having them with us!

Ingo, our professional hunter on the farm became father for the 2nd time- again a girl. Mother and Child are very well. The other employees Simon, Jason, Ernst, Elisabeth sen and Jun. Are all well too.
